About Search Engines and spiders

Search engines are linked to a "directory" similar to a telephone directory. When you type something in the search engine looks in its directory for anything matching your "search term" (what you typed in)

There are two main types of directory "Human Edited" and "Spidered or Crawled". Human edited directories are slow and or expensive but often very reliable.
A spider such as "googlebot" can and does analyse thousands of pages per second so is far more up-to-date.

Google is the undisputed king of search engines accounting for over 50% of all searches their closest rival Yahoo is a very long way behind.

Web Spiders visit your site read all the words and report back to their masters who build the "index" used to find the stuff people are searching for.

Web Spiders have no eyes they can't see pictures!
